Can't see any in-universe explanation for Odin's summoned raiding crew other than the einherjar, even if they are typically meant only for final battle on the field of Vígríðr.

The Einherjar, also called the Swellers of Glory,[1] were those who had died in battle and were brought to Valhalla by Valkyries in Norse mythology.

Legacy

During the Viking expansion into England, a set of armor inspired by the Einherjar was made available to the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan through an Animus modification by Layla Hassan, an Assassin who relieved her memories in 2020.[2]
