The Dhustone Quarry is a quarry nestled in the Stiperstanas of Shropshire, England. Originally in the posession of the Kingdom of Mercia during the 9th century, the quarry was captured by Britons in the early 870s who used it to move their goods from Gwynedd into the shire to fund the war against Mercia. The Britons also brought captured Anglo-Saxons to the quarry where they were either held in cages or forced to work against their will.
Circa 874, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir travelled to the quarry after learning of its location fron a refugee in Quatford. Eivor promptly infiltrated the heavily-guarded quarry, destroying the supply carts and freeing the captives to join Bishop Deorlaf's fyrd against the Britons.[1]
