Aigyptos was a king of ancient Egypt in Greek mythology who fathered 50 sons. He was also the twin brother of Danaos.

According to the stories, Danaos' daughters were supposed to marry Aigyptos' sons. As a wedding present from their father, each of Danaos' daughters received a dagger, and a command to kill their husbands. All but Hypermnestra obeyed, and a shrine for the 49 slain sons was set up in Argos near The Bloody Oracle.[1]
