In 1718, Woodes Rogers and a British Commodore, Peter Chamberlaine, made port in the pirate-controlled colony of Nassau in order to meet with the "governors" of the island; so they could offer them and their men a pardon.
During this meeting, Peter Chamberlain threatened to kill all the pirates outright, but was put to ease by Rogers. Being angered by Roger's orders, Chamberlain returned to his ship suspecting a revolt. Chamberlain commanded his armada to form a blockade around the island's main port, in order to stop ant pirate that wanted to flee (or enter) the island, Edward Kenway got close and killed him.
