Working as a tailor was a lucrative and respectable vocation which anyone - regardless of ethnicity or religion - could aspire to in the Ottoman Empire, and one which benefited immensely from the cross-pollination of cultures mixing in the streets and Bazaars of Constantinople. Because of the Empire's broad expanse, Ottoman fabrics were famous for their vibrant colors, busy patterns, and incredible level of detail, drawn from cultures as far east as Persia and as far west as Greece. A true melting pot of sartorial splendor.
