Hel, the Queen of Niflheim, is without question the most powerful being in that deathly world. As the daughter of Loki and Angrboda, her lineage has bestowed upon her several supernatural abilities which she has developed into awesome powers exceeding those of either parent. When Odin granted Hel authority over Niflheim as more of a curse than a kindness, she embraced his double-edged gift and transformed it into the most feared of the Nine Worlds. However, her figurative and physical control over Niflheim has come at some cost: her literal connection to so many aspects of that world requires so much of her energy that activities requiring great effort, such as combat, will significantly weaken her over extended periods of time.
