The Catacombe di Roma was constructed in the 2nd century and during the Renaissance; they were used by the Followers of Romulus as their hideout.

As Christianity was illegal at the time, these catacombs served as a place where people would secretly bury their dead. The catacombs were made up of maze-like tunnels; and the secret entrance to the Shrine of Romulus was built into the wall above a dark pit.

There were numerous entrances and exits that were exploited by the Followers to move around undetected.
