During the Renaissance, Assassins were using a special kind of invisible paint to mark their Targets; in order to hide their intention from the Borgia or other forces that were trying to stop them.
The special paint was invented by Leonardo da Vinci and only the Assassins who were able to use the Eagle Vision; could detect the paint from great distances. It was mostly used by Assassin Scouts to mark a target house or item; that later helped the Assassin identify the Mission Target. The Scouts were usually drawing the symbol of the Assassins.
