Dagobert I (c. 603 – 19 January 639) was the King of Austrasia from 623 to 634, King of the Franks from 629 to 634 and King of Neustria and Burgundy from 629.

In 630, he founded the Abbey of Saint-Denis for Benedictine monks, which soon became one of the most important of its kind in France. He was also the first Frankish king to be buried in the royal necropolis at the Basilica of Saint-Denis.

During the French Revolution, the royal tombs were desecrated. Dagobert's jaw was taken by the official Charles Brulay, who later sold it at an auction.
