The Committee of Public Safety (French: Comité de salut public) was the de facto executive government of France during the Reign of Terror.
Created by the National Convention in March 1793, the Templar and leading Jacobin, Maximilien de Robespierre, joined the committee along with Louis Antoine de Saint-Just, following the fall of the Girondists.
