Pope Clement IV (23 November 1190/1200 – 29 November 1268), born Gui Foucois, was Pope from 1265 until his death.

During his papacy, Clement requested English philosopher Roger Bacon to write a summary of his achievements, which became known as the Opus Majus. However, the book was evidently not brief enough for Clement, which resulted in Bacon writing the Opus Minus just a year later.
