Charles III (839 – 888), also known as Charles the Fat, was the last emperor of the Carolingian Empire to rule over the kingdom of Francia.

In the last few years of his reign, Paris was subjected to a Viking siege lead by Eivor Varinsdottir[1] that led to his downfall and eventual deposition.[2]
