Champ de Mars is a large public greenspace in Paris, France between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast.

History

On 6 August 1792, French protestors gathered at the greenspace to petition the deposition of Louis XVI at the height of the French Revolution.[1] During the Franco-Prussian War, the Government of National Defense utilized the area as a training grounds for the public to fight against the invading Prussians.[2]
