The Brunton Turret was a tower situated at the eastern section of Hadrian's Wall in Yorkshire, England.
During the 9th century, Nokkfylla Shine-Eye, a former drengr who served under Ragnar Lodbrok, made the tower his home. Unable to control his bloodlust for fighting, Nokkfylla would kill anyone who approached the tower. In the 870s, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir visited the tower and met Nokkfylla, finding the victims of his rampage. Eivor fulfilled Nokkfylla's last wish of putting an end to his bloodlust by fighting him in a duel to the death.[1]
