The British Isles are a group of islands in the North Atlantic encompassing Great Britain, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Hebrides.[1]

History

Roman Empire

By the end of the 1st Century following the expansion of the Roman Empire, the Hidden Ones had established bureaus across the isles.[2] After the Roman withdrawal from Britain, the Hidden Ones retreated from the isles and relocated to Cologne.[2][3]

Viking Age

Victorian Britain

Early Modern period

Following the English Civil War, Oliver Cromwell established the isles into a single republic under the Commonwealth of England.[4] The Commonwealth would dissolve in 1660, two years after Cromwell's death.[5]

During the Golden Age of Piracy, the majority of pirates would come from the Isles, usually young men in their 20s who had prior experience as sailors.[6]
