The Blacksmith (real name Augustine Oberlin) is an unlockable multiplayer character in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. He uses a large hammer as his primary weapon and appears in the single player mode of Brotherhood as a Templar Agent. To unlock the Blacksmith, the player has to reach level 15.

In Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, Fiora Cavazza was actually shocked by him, as he gave the impression of a brute while being a very cultured man.

In 1503, Ezio Auditore saw a woman sitting on a bench in a countryside village beaten and bruised, so he asked the woman for the one who had left her in that condition. She replied that her husband, Augustine, who had changed as the Borgia supplied him with anything he wanted, claimed all the shop's posters in the name of the Borgia and harmed anyone who tampered with them.

Seeing his opportunity to call him out, Ezio tore down the Borgia posters one by one until Augustine had learned of his meddling. Enraged, Augustine found Ezio and attacked with brute force, aided by his hammer, but instead fell by the blade of the Assassin, putting his control over the neighborhood shops to an end.

Unique Moves

Backbreaker (Low Profile, Front)

The Blacksmith walks up to his target and lifts them up with both of his hands, before slamming his victim's back onto his knee, snapping their spine. He then drops their lifeless body to the ground.

The Throat Twister (Low Profile, Back)

The Blacksmith puts his hammer across his victim's throat, holding both ends of the handle, before twisting it and snapping their neck.

The Facial Temperer (High Profile, Front)

The Blacksmith runs at his target, knocking them down and riding his hammer into their face, before dislodging it afterwards and walking away.

Hammer Time (High Profile, Back)

The Blacksmith runs up behind his target, before taking out his hammer and violently sweeping his victim's legs from beneath them, causing them to fall backwards. He then swings the hammer around, onto their face, smashing it in a bloody mess and killing them instantly.

Drag and Smash (Bench Kill)

The Blacksmith hooks his hammer underneath his victim's foot, dragging them from the bench by their ankle and onto the floor, before taking his hammer and smashing the head of it into his victim's face.

The High Forger (Aerial Kill)

The Blacksmith lands on his victim, forcing them to the ground as he straddles their waist, before delivering a powerful hammer strike to his victim's head, killing them instantly.

Customization

Colors:

• Basic: Red Apron
  
• Extra 1: Dark Blue Apron
  
• Extra 2: Baby Blue apron
  
• Extra 3: Black apron
  

Gear:

• Advanced: Color of plate armor changed to gold, gauntlet adorned with metal, added leather vambrace over gauntlet.
  
• Superior: Apron has added studs, added braids in beard.
  
• Elite: Larger spaulders.

Trivia

• It is stated that the Blacksmith was a Swiss mercenary.
• The Blacksmith never receives an armguard or sleeve of somekind on his left arm to attach a hidden gun, so if the hidden gun is equipped on him, it will appear as if it is internally attached to his skin.
• Even though the multiplayer character, his database picture, promotional artwork, and his profession all have/use hammers, he fights with a bearded axe against Ezio in the single player templar assignment.
