The Black Axe was a variation of the common Ceremonial Axe which belonged to a famous pirate who operated in ancient Greece. After the state of Keos imprisoned the pirate, they claimed his possessions including the axe.
During the Peloponnesian War, the axe was acquired by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
