Birinus (c. 600 – c. 650)[1] was a Frankish missionary responsible for the conversion of the Kingdom of Wessex to Christianity and later venerated as a saint.

Around 640, Birinus joined forces with King Cenwalh of Wessex to build the first cathedral of Wessex.[2]
