Athlone

Athlone was a ringfort in southeastern Connacht, Ireland.

In the 9th century, Athlone was a trading post specialized in trading ale that had been abandoned and taken over by the bandits. Between 879 and 882, jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir assisted Azar by clearing the ringfort of the bandits and obtaining the deed poll to the site, allowing the re-establishment of the trade post connecting to Dublin.[1]
