Wandrie

Wandrie was a small Anglo-Saxon settlement located by the Great Ouse River in Grantebridgescire. It was situated southwest of the monastery of Meldeburne and was noted to be birthplace of the Order of the Ancients member and ealdorman Wigmund.

During the 870s, the settlement was visited by the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir, who recovered a kite shield belonging to Wigmund in one of the wooden huts.[1]
