Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]
In an April 2021 interview with GamerSky.com, Shi revealed his love for the Assassin's Creed series and his pleasure at being chosen to write a novel for it. Despite only starting from Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Shi eventually got updated on the rest of the series' lore. To date, his favourite game is Assassin's Creed: Odyssey for its ancient Greek setting. Shi's thoughts on the series are that, although the title Assassin's Creed usually makes people think of darkness, mystery, and action, there are many other different aspects to explore. He likes the idea of combining the science-fiction with martial arts and blending real history into the fiction.[1]
Shi also shared a short synopsis of his novel Cike Xintiao: Chang'an Wang, which is set in the Tang dynasty and depicts the early stages of the transition of power from the Li family to the Wu family during the period of Emperor Gaozong of Tang and Wu Zetian. Shi noted the ability to change certain historical facts to fit around the Assassin's Creed lore.[1]
