The Sainte-Geneviève Church was a church in the south of Paris dedicated to Genevieve, the patroness saint of the city. During the 9th century, the church was used by the Bishop Bellatores Dei member Engelwin for his "Deliverance" ceremonies. Secretly, he also used the church chambers to store his riches and exchanges with his correspondence.

In 886, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir was able to gain access to the church and met a Frankish in the balcony who was to be participating the deliverance ritual in the chamber organized by Engelwin. Acquirng a robe worn by members of the Bellatores Dei, Eivor posed as the newest initiate and managed to assassinate Engelwin in the church chambers.[1]
