A view of Mount Geraneia

Mount Geraneia is a mountain range located in Megaris on the Attika peninsula. Also known as "crane hill", it was named for the flock of cranes that showed Megaros, a son of Zeus, the way to its peak to escape a flood.

During the Peloponnesian War, Athens controlled a fort in the slopes of the mountain. The Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the mountain around the same time.[1]
