Biography[edit | edit source]
In 1868, she worked as a maid for Lady Ursula in her Westminster home, having plans to marry the butler, Douglas. Needing money to build a life together, Douglas schemed with the spiritualist Thaddeus the Great to gain Lady Ursula's inheritance. He asked Thaddeus to tell his employer that her cat Mittens wished for Douglas to receive the inheritance.
However, learning that Thaddeus would reveal his scheme during the next séance, Douglas stabbed the supposed psychic in the neck when the lights went out. One of the Frye twins apprehended him after their investigation, leaving Miriam without her fiancé.
