Lydos was a helot in the service of King Pausanias of Sparta during the 5th century BCE.

Biography[edit | edit source]

On one occasion during the 420s BCE, while Pausanias was attending to his Cult duties, Lydos accidentally spilled wine over the table Pausanias was working at. While trying to clean up the mess, Lydos left wine-stained finger prints on a document Pausanias was signing. In anger, the King punched Lydos in the face, breaking his cheekbone.[1]
