Haunted Tatarigami Village

The Haunted Tatarigami Village was an abandoned village situated in the northeastern Genbu Highlands in Yamashiro, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke ventured towards the village at night and came across two "yōkai", namely two kappa. When the kappa spotted them, they ran up towards the village while Naoe and Yasuke chased after them.[1]

Running into the village, the pair came across a group of bandits who ambushed them, but Naoe and Yasuke managed to defeat them. They then confronted the kappa, who were revealed to be Rei and Taku, two orphan children used by the bandits to scare wanderers away from their stash. Having learned the truth about the rumors of yōkai in the area, Naoe and Yasuke left the village.[1]
