Saint Adrian of Nicomedia (died 4 March 306) was a Herculian Guard during the reign of Roman Emperor Galerius Maximian.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Adrian died in 306 after being tortured so severely that his intestines were exposed. After his death, he was canonized as the patron saint of plague and was believed to cure illnesses.[1]

During the Golden Age of Piracy, the pirate and Assassin Edward Kenway recovered a wooden statue of Saint Adrian in the West Indies.[1]
