Broadway is a street in Manhattan, New York City.

Broadway is one of the oldest streets in New York City which got its name from a literal interpretation; the road was literally a broad way.[1]

In the 18th century, Broadway ended at the city common and was known for its Theatre District. However, at the time, shows were not plentiful, and typically it was a dangerous place to visit. Today, the street starts at Bowling Green and spans all of Manhattan.[1]
