The South-West of America was the land of different native people like the Pueblo and the Navajo. With the Conquistadores, the southwest became a part of New Spain for three centuries, with expeditions to find gold, construction of cities but also Indian revolts. After the Mexican War of Independence (1810-1821), New Spain became the Mexican Empire and later the Republic. American settlers lived on these territories. In 1835, the Texans established their own Republic before joining the USA during the Mexican-American War (1846-1848). The treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ceded the South-West to the USA. In 1849, the discovery of gold in California led to the arrival of many settlers in the region.

The game will be set in the 1850s-1860s. The Templars could be interested in installing their New World Order in towns and societies on construction. The search for gold could finance their operations and cover their search for Piece of Eden. The Assassins would settle a new guild to watch the Templar activities.

Fight: The fighting gameplay must be revisited. Guns were common but not everybody is a sharpshooter. The enemy will have few bullets, little accuracy, or take time to reload except for some archetypes. Fighting with fists or knives needs a new system like the Arkham games. The use of props like bottles, chairs, or rocks is a must.

Stealth: In the city is easy. Bank robbery or other activities will require stealth. As for navigation, it is the desert that poses difficulties. But like in Black Flag with the plantation, if they adapted this with ranch or other places. It could work.

===Historical Context===
Since the end of the American Revolution, the USA was divided on the question of Federal Government and the Rights of States. Slavery and other economic matters split the US between an industrial North and a rural South. In 1861, the CSA seceded, taking control of military bases. After the attack of Fort Sumter, the war began, with other States joining the Confederation. Even inside the state, there was division.
In AC, we know that the Templars had both members in the Union and the Confederation and used the war to regain control. In the Last descendant, the Grand Master is [[William M. Tweed]], the Boss of the [[Tammany Hall]] in New York. In 1863, they organized the New York Draft Riot to discredit the governor. The templars also assassinated Lincoln. The Assassins also had members on both sides but fought to stop the war and abolish slavery.
===Maps===
I saw 7 maps for the game: 5 cities and two regions.
For the cities: -Washington, the capital of the Union was well protected by the army. The Assassins will have an underground headquarters built after the War of 1812. The Templars tried to gain power through the city.
-Richmond, capital of the Confederation. Maybe have the Assassin less influential there and you must build a guild there while hindering the Templars and the CSA.
-New Orleans, which was in the Confederation and later taken by the Union in 1862 where martial law was applied. It will be good to see how the city evolved after Liberation
-Memphis, first a Confederation city until 1862, a city became a supply base for the Union.
-Atlanta, the Confederate military hub. It was taken in 1864 by the Union.
For the region: -The Frontline, a map in the South where the soldiers fight, with small towns, and plantations. The Assassins had a safe house as a plantation to serve as a cover for the freed slaves before reaching the North.
-The Mississippi River: With a steamboat or an ironclad, you could explore the river to go from NO to Memphis, helping smugglers, etc.
===Character===
I think an Afro-American Assassin makes more sense but maybe not a former slave (we already have Adéwalé and Yasuke), freed from the beginning. He participated in the Underground Railroad to free slaves before the war, then he became a spy/soldier. For equipment, classical Assassin stuff, hidden blades, smoke bombs, throwing knives. A sword and a riffle to fight.
Maybe he could have apprentices in the cities to help him, different characters with a specific arc.
===Gameplay===
For the gameplay, it is a classical setting for AC, so close to the one from Unity and Syndicate. But the fight will be more like Unity and AC3 as we use a sword or a maisonnette.

I will write about the settings that could be seen for future games and how they can be adapted.

Wild West[edit | edit source]

Some ask for it, some say it won't work or it will be too much like RDR (I never play it). Personally, I think it can work.

Historical Context[edit | edit source]

Maps and Region[edit | edit source]

For me, one of the major cities will be San Francisco. It was founded in 1770 but the Gold Rush raised the population from 1 000 to 25 000 in one year. The port was full of ships where buildings were constructed and even some were sunk to use as foundations (it could be interesting for parkour jumping from mast to mast). A city in expansion during the game will be new.

Kansas City could be interesting. During the 1850s, Bleeding Kansas saw a series of violent civil confrontations between pro-slavery and anti-slavery activists.

A map with the region of Utah and New Mexico, permitting to see a different place, native villages, ranches, and the Grand Canyon. We could travel on horse, carriage or train. We could have a headquarters that we expand like the Homestead in AC3. Some sort of ranch or city.

Character[edit | edit source]

The protagonist is a Mexican settler who searches for fortune. (As the region was ceded to the USA, many Mexicans received American citizenship). I imagine a bit like Edward Kenway, being embroiled in the Assassin-Templar War while he is focused on his business but a bit more grey helping sometimes the Order and the Brotherhood. The player could choose to be lawful or lawless or between, arresting criminals or make robbery.

He will have companions serving a bit like the apprentices in AC3. Each is a character from a different area(American, Mexican, Native, European, Asian) with a field of skills. If you wanted to distract a guard, use the courtesan. If you need to destroy a wall, use the explosive expert. Maybe upgrade and customize them.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Navigation: Parkour will be interesting for San Francisco. The use of a lasso like a grappling hook could help. The more difficult part is the desert. If the map is small and varied it could be done. Train heists like Syndicate and cave exploration in Utah can do the job.

Stealth: In the city, it is easy. Bank robbery or other activities will require stealth. As for navigation, it is the desert that poses difficulties. But like in Black Flag with the plantation, if they adapted this with ranch or other places. It could work.

Coop: I imagine something like Unity with the Heist missions, robbing a bank a train, or other places with players.

American Civil War[edit | edit source]

A settings a lot of times hinted and explored in other media during the series.

Historical Context[edit | edit source]

Since the end of the American Revolution, the USA was divided on the question of Federal Government and the Rights of States. Slavery and other economic matters split the US between an industrial North and a rural South. In 1861, the CSA seceded, taking control of military bases. After the attack of Fort Sumter, the war began, with other States joining the Confederation. Even inside the state, there was division.

In AC, we know that the Templars had both members in the Union and the Confederation and used the war to regain control. In the Last descendant, the Grand Master is William M. The Assassins also had members on both sides but fought to stop the war and abolish slavery.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

For the gameplay, it is a classical setting for AC, so close to the one from Unity and Syndicate. But the fight will be more like Unity and AC3 as we use a sword or a maisonnette.
