Pursuing the machine gun through the woods and dodging the rapid bullet rounds fired at him, Ezio managed to catch up to the chariot and kill both the driver and the [[arquebusier|gunman]] posted on it. | However, as he drove the chariot deeper into the countryside, the number of guards only seemed to increase, thus Ezio took control of the machine gun itself. Shooting horses and riders alike, and only suffering minor set backs as the horses pulling the machine veered off the road, Ezio was able to successfully hold off his pursuers.

| Upon escaping from the remaining guards, Ezio detached the pair of horses from the carriage, and rode to safety on the back of one as he ignited the gunpowder-laden chariot with his [[pistol]]. | In 1503, Ezio journeyed to Valnerina in order to dismantle and destroy a more technologically advanced version of Leonardo's [[Flying Machine]], which was referred to as a Bomber. Upon arriving at the small settlement, Ezio scouted the town market place for the Borgia weapons engineer, who knew of the location of both the designs and the machine itself. Upon finally locating the man, Ezio tailed him to a secluded area, where he [[Interrogation|interrogated]] him.

| Under pressure, the engineer finally confessed the location of the designs, which were in the workshop near his house, and of the bomber, which was posted atop a tower in a nearby Borgia fortress. Allowing the engineer to flee, Ezio made his way to the engineer's house to burn the plans before setting off to infiltrate the fortress.

| Climbing up the obscured eastern walls, Ezio crossed battlements and courtyard rooftops, avoiding the guard's attention until he climbed and entered the central tower. As night fell, Ezio made his way to the interior of the tower, and finally caught sight of the new Flying Machine. Bypassing the four guards on duty and climbing to the pinnacle point of the structure, Ezio noticed several workshops spread across the [[Valnerina]] countryside, where the Borgia were attempting to manufacture various other war machines for Cesare's wars across Europe.

| Concluding that such production needed to be stopped, Ezio flew off the perch of the tower and once again glided through the night sky. Using the fire canon mounted upon the back of the machine, he periodically set fires to the ground to keep himself in the air, as well as used it to destroy the nearby factories. The commotion alerted the surviving workshops, and several wagons attempted to bring salvaged materials to the safety of the fortress. However, Ezio was still able to intercept and destroy all the wagons, and the materials they transported.

| Immediately after this, a single mounted courier fled the fortress in order to alert Cesare of the destruction Ezio was causing; though he too was skillfully shot down. Leaving the burning countryside behind, Ezio proceeded to destroy the Flying Machine by crashing it into a nearby [[Archers|archer]] tower, leaping out of it to safety just before the impact. Finally bidding his ''"old friend"'' a goodbye as it burned, Ezio subsequently returned to Rome.

| Upon discovering its location, Ezio proceeded to go after the [[Naval Cannon]], which was being kept on the docks of Naples. Discovering that the fortified dry dock and surrounding area were heavily guarded by the Borgia, he began his search for the engineer. While scouting the outer docks, Ezio overheard a guard instructing his comrades that only a man known as Eduardo was allowed to examine the mechanism they were guarding, and make any final improvements.

| Tracking down and seizing the engineer by the collar, the Assassin demanded the plans for the mechanism, however, Eduardo quickly confirmed that Ezio was the Assassin, and offered his aid in destroying the machine. | Ezio followed Eduardo through a series of narrow canals, traversing the beams overhead in order to avoid confronting guards. After opening several gates for the engineer, Eduardo soon departed after leading the Assassin to the entrance to an old store room, through which he could reach the dry dock.

Ezio immediately charged forward, directly assaulting the soldiers and dispatching them without effort. After burning the plans as usual, he then flooded the dry dock in order to take the naval cannon into open waters.

| Catching sight of several Templar war ships moored in the harbor, the Assassin proceeded to use the cannon to set fire to their sails, dodging the retaliating arrows and cannonballs. After bringing down each ship, he finally turned and pointed the mounted cannon down towards the center of the gondola. Muttering for Leonardo's forgiveness, he fired the cannon into itself and dived into the sea before it exploded.

| After disabling three of the war machines, Cesare's military advancements had become extremely limited. However, Ezio had one more machine to dismantle, the "centerpiece" of Cesare's army, the [[Tank]]. To destroy it, Ezio departed Rome for the Borgia arms workshop in Monte Circeo.

| Arriving in the Borgia-occupied settlement, Ezio sought the engineer. Though he located the man in the outskirts of the fortress, he was protected by a bodyguard, preventing the Assassin from extorting any information from him. He thus merely tailed the engineer from behind, listening to his target converse with his guard regarding the machine's safety.

| As the engineer entered the heavily guarded entrance of the factory, Ezio quickly took an alternative route up the eastern walls, through a damaged section in the stones. Dropping down to where the engineer was standing, he confronted him in a fistfight, and soon the Assassin came out on top. Not wanting to become any more injured, the engineer told Ezio that the machine required three people to operate it, and that three [[mercenaries]] were being held captive in the fortress for such a purpose.

| Ezio allowed the engineer to escape, and proceeded to make his way to the opposite end of the factory. Finding the plans at a small workshop, Ezio burned them using a torch, and made his way to the captured mercenaries. Unfortunately, one of the mercenaries appeared to have died in captivity, as Ezio noticed his limp body slumped against the back wall. Dispatching the patrolling guard, Ezio asked the remaining two mercenaries where Leonardo's machine was hidden. One instructed Ezio to free them, so they would be able to show him the hidden entrance they had discovered. The Assassin obliged, however, they were ambushed twice by a large number of Borgia soldiers. Despite this, Ezio and the mercenaries eventually overpowered them and proceeded.

| Once led to the entrance to a network of underground tunnels, one of the mercenaries commented that Cesare intended to issue a surprise assault on Sicily with the tanks. Ezio then assured him that they, together, would prevent it. Traveling through the deep passages, Ezio used his freerunning abilities to open several gates for the less-talented mercenaries until they reached the cavern where a working tank was stored.

| Ezio and his new allies took control of the tank, and staged a direct assault against the main weapons factory. Easily plowing through the countryside with the powerful weapon, they fired upon any [[mounted cannons]], foot soldiers, or other tank prototypes that blocked their path.

| Blowing the gates of the main factory open and entering the courtyard, they discovered several damaged siege towers, some cannons in the process of being repaired, and several working and half-built tanks. After destroying the other war machines and siege weapons within the fortress walls, the mercenaries took their leave, and Ezio climbed up onto the walls of the factory. There, he expressed his wish to keep his tank, but nonetheless fired a mounted cannon at it, causing it to explode, and marking the end of the war machines' reign of terror.

| Following the destruction of the final war machine, Ezio returned to Rome, where he and Leonardo once again met secretly. Leonardo told Ezio that news had reached him of the demise of his creations, and he had thus had time to work on something special for Ezio. There, he gave his friend a [[Parachutes|gift]], which would allow him to slow down the speed of his fall when jumping from rooftops. Ezio thanked his old friend, and the two parted on good terms.

| After the demolition of the machines, Cesare's advanced artillery was left in disarray and his armies were crippled.
