Pope Urban II (c. 1035 – 1099), otherwise known as Odo of Châtillon or Otho de Lagery, was Pope and bishop of Rome from 12 March 1088 to his death.[1]
In 1096, Urban II initiated the First Crusade with the objective of recovering what is known as the Holy Land from Muslim rule.[2][3]
