The Theater of Epidauros

The Theater of Epidauros was built on the slope of Mount Kynortion within the Valley of Dreams in Argolis.

Built in the second half of the 4th century BCE, the theater hosted musical contests during the Asklepeia[1], supervised and judged by the priests of Asklepios. If a contestant failed to show up, they received a hefty fine.[2]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Theater of Epidauros / Contemporary

The Theater of Epidauros is anachronistic to the setting of Odyssey as it was built in 350-300 BC.[3]

Also it is depicted as being made of wood when in reality it was a stone structure, though it might have been indeed partly wooden initially.[4]

In fact, the in game model reuses assets from the Theater of Dionysos.
