Messene

Messene is a local community in Messenia, Greece, that was once a prominent polis in classical antiquity. The city was also situated south of Andania, the home of King Aristomenes.[1]

During the Peloponnesian War, in the late 5th century BCE, the city was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
