A pair of Spartan greaves

A greave is a type of armor that covers the lower leg from attack. As the tibia's close proximity to the skin makes it an easy target to attack and to render an opponent lame, greaves were made to protect this area. Historically, they were made from metal with fur padding beneath to cushion a blow and disperse the impact force.
