Samis El Felipe was a King of Algiers, until Spain conquered the city in 1510 and had him imprisoned.

During his imprisonment, the Ottoman Assassins established a line of contact with Felipe by passing forth messages from his cell.[1] Through this correspondence, the former king authorized the Assassins to employ the aid of infamous pirate Hayreddin Barbarossa to weaken Spanish influence in Algiers. However, the Assassins were unable to actually rescue Felipe due to the well-fortified nature of the prison.[2]
