The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is the foreign intelligence service of the Canadian federal government.[1]

On 20 November 2013, following reports in New York City of a "Houdini Heist" where more than $10 million suddenly disappeared from hundreds of civilians' bank accounts, the case was escalated from local police jurisdiction to the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation.[2]
Nine days later, after Abstergo Entertainment disclosed to the authorities that its recent digital systems and customer records disruptions could be related to the case, the CSIS collaborated with the FBI to arrest 15 individuals from the Erudito hacktivist group in Toronto, Ontario, for their connections to the robbery that had impacted eight different countries.[3]
