HMS Defiance was a frigate in His Majesty's Royal Navy during the early 18th century.
The captain of the ship had killed a Dutch merchant, which prompted his friend, Milo van der Graaff, to hire the pirate Edward Kenway to sink the Defiance as an act of revenge.[1]
