			Hello there. I'd like to thank you for your reply to my topic about the British army on the talk page, although I regret that it has been removed. I don't know why there is such a thing as a talk page if it can't be used as a forum, but that's by the by.

			I read what you said, and considering all that I know generally aboutspheres of influence in military and political power during the period of the American war for independence, I agree with you that in America, the best trained and most professional army was indeed the British army, by virtue that other than the later hired German mercenaries, the British army was the only present military force with what we may in the modern day call standardised training. In the same way, Britain had little to no military presence in Europe following the Wars of Austrian Succession and the Seven years war, and so naturally Prussian military might prevailed.

			What I contest, and I say this from a completely objective standpoint, is that in overall military standards in the world, Prussia had the monopoly on a professional standing army which was not present anywhere else in Europe in the same manner. The closest thing that could match it would be the descendant forces of the English new model army, which in my opinion wasn't up to the same standards.

			On the other hand though, as you pointed out England had the top navy of the time, had done for years and would have for centuries, no one of proper academic merit that I know of disputes that fact, and given that a navy is most prolific for an island nation, overall international influence is easy to project when holding the best hand in the military field that allows for that projection. As such one might argue that the British army had the most scope for the maneuvring of its power and the reach of its ability to assert its military presence.
