Ezio undoubtedly is the better warrior, and if the two squared off, i would put my money on Ezio, but it will be a long fight. In terms of climbing, free running, speed, strength, and stamina, Ezio of course wins, he can climb much faster, able to escape from most enemies, has enough strength to swing a heavy axe or throw a spear into a guard, and can run for great periods. However, in terms of leadership and foresight, Altair will win. he not only led the Assassin order into a new era, he also has the foresight to disband the order and disperse the Assassins throughout the world to counter the Templar threat (new info from Secret Crusade. In terms of erm...conquests, Ezio wins. women seems to throw themselves at him, while Altair found a lifetime partner in the form of Maria. (I like that very much, as i believe in loving one single person for my life.) In terms of intelligence and emotional control, Altair wins. not only was he able to adapt to situations, he was also able to plan the assassinations of nine of the holy land's most powerful individuals all down to the escape. He doesnt let his emotions cloud his judgement, unlike ezio who let his thirst for revenge cloud his mind.
Conclusion: they are much pretty equal.
