			As Galina and Xavier found and "freed" Joseph, he attacked them, ultimately killing Xavier by drowning him in a nearby pool. He also broke Galina's leg, but before he could finish her off, Charlotte arrived and confronted the rogue Assassin. In an attempt to convince Charlotte to abandon the Assassins, who he believed had used both of them, Joseph detonated a hidden explosive that killed Hawking and other high-ranking Templars. He then explained that he had only used the Templars to achieve revenge on Xavier, who was responsible for the death of his lover [[Christian]], and invited Charlotte to join him.<ref name="AC5"/>

			Charlotte refused and attacked Joseph with a [[Short blade\|knife]], just as Templar agents arrived on the scene. While Joseph escaped, Charlotte grabbed the injured Galina and carried her to safety. The two women were ultimately able to flee the Treo Tea office and lose their Templar assailants, though in the process Charlotte discovered that [[Brad]], an employee she had tied up during her infiltration, died from {{Wiki\|asthma}}. This incident would prove to be deeply traumatizing for the young Assassin.<ref name="AC5"/>
