Prior to May 1916, Tommy wrote a letter to his older brother, telling him about a [[zeppelin]] bomb attack that occurred near their house. On May 1916, Jeremy wrote a letter to their mother, warning her that though Tommy thought that the zeppelins were "the most exciting thing ever to happen to London", she should make sure he wouldn't try and leave the house to get a better view of them, should they ever come their way again.
