I've read the comments, and it seems that you guys are just telling him to get better edits, without even telling him how. The comment below me directed Dan to a page, in which he can know what you guys are looking for in an edit.
However, if I was a new user, I would have no idea where that would be. You guys need to be specific, maybe provide a link, and don't tell him to get better, tell him how.
