In 1582, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] followed a letter they read from the [[The Tsutsui Agent|merchant agent]]'s home to a town in western [[Uda Matsuyama]]. There, they [[Eavesdropping|eavesdropped]] on a conversation of a rival blacksmith losing his contract to the target they sought and acquired the target's location. Traveling to [[Miyataki]], Naoe and Yasuke found the corrupt blacksmith working in plain sight and ultimately assassinated him. From his personal effects, they uncovered a clue about an [[The Akiyama Agent|Akiyama]]''{{Wiki|shugodai}}''{{'}} ordering his men to kill locals as a means to sully the Akiyama clan's reputation.<ref name="Kurai Eikyou"/>
