There he explicitly mentions the fact that all time-controlling artifacts must be contained as per Abstergo/Templar regulations. Neumann is responsible for the 'invention' of computers and his computers implement a Universal Turing Machine. Co-incidence? Neumann also specialises in Quantum Mechanics. I wonder, and this is speculation, if Leila Marino was in fact assassinated, since her death seems suspiciously like a cover-up of some sorts. I wonder if perhaps she had discovered something within Neumann's theories/work/writings that imposed a huge threat, such as time travel or even freezing time itself for instance, and if she unveiled it, it cost her her life. At least some part of the explanation of her 'suicide' would be true, that she died because of someone called 'Neumann.'
