			The book doesn't say anything about Machiavelli being or not being given the rank Mentor, only his role as De facto Assassin Leader. The novel suggests that Machiavelli and Ezio held sway over different areas of the brotherhood from 1500 - 1503 to be considered leaders. Machiavelli being the de facto leader and Ezio being a leadership figure, with both being Master Assassins by 1500. In 1503, as we know, Machiavelli stepped aside, proclaiming Ezio the Assassin Leader and Mentor (As we know they ARE different ranks). So Considering nothing contradicts Memories. It should be considered that at some point post 1500 (most likely post 1503) Machiavelli gained the rank Mentor, nothing pre-memories goes against this or even mentions it, only his position as de facto leader.
