	Actually, I'm pretty sure it's to do with the Bleeding Effect, made much more damaging by the extensive and prolonged sessions in the Animus when he was at Abstergo. He could be seeing the deaths of his ancestors because they come to him in visions such as Desmond were having by his minor affliction with it. 			I recall very little from the puzzles in the Ezio arc, however, I do remember that there were lots of recordings, images, texts and images exposing all kinds of Piece of Eden and Templar interference in history.

			However, what was brought to my attention was that Clay said that George Washington passed the Apple of Eden down to his presidential successor and that it was passed down to each president.

			This was proven false, since the first moment he came into the contact with the Apple, as soon as the Apple-created reality shattered, he handed it over directly to Connor, to sink it into the sea.

			Now, I'm not sure if we can take other information provided by him at face value. It is canon that he went mad due to seeing too many possible [[calculations]], so it's quite possible that a lot of information exposed there, such as Apollo 11 mission could be just him seeing an alternate reality, instead of actual history.
