==Description==
As its name suggests, the Snake-Hilted Sword was a basket-hilted sword whose twisting bars were fashioned in the motif of a [[snake]] curling around the handle. In this manner, it was distinct from other basket-hilted swords whose hilts generally formed entire protective guards. Aside from this, the guard and pommel were also gilded, adding to its ornate appearance. More than just an elegant weapon, the Snake-Hilted sword was highly effective and ranked among the most powerful of broadswords of its era though it was surpassed by the [[schiavona]].
