One morning in his classroom, Marcel was giving a lesson on how to create Diethyl Ether from Sulfuric Acid and Ethanol. However, upon mixing the bottle, an explosion occurred and injured the professor. Fatally wounded, he made his way back home and carried a bible from the local church. Dying in his courtyard, he believed the church was behind his death in his last moments. However, when the [[Parisian Brotherhood of Assassins|French Assassin]] [[Arno Dorian]] found Marcel's body, he investigated the crime and determined Frison's hand in switching sulfuric acid with nitric acid, causing the explosion. After rightfully accusing Frison, Arno brought the college professor to jail.<ref name="THOS"/>
