Paulus&amp;#039;s father Aldus was a friend and ally to artist [[Leonardo da Vinci]], and was involved in the latter&amp;#039;s research on the [[haven]]s, being entrusted with a clue, but died before he could hand it off to the [[Assassins]]. After his death in 1515, Paulus, along with his uncle and grandfather, took over {{Wiki|Aldine Press}}. Leonardo contacted Paulus and asked that he also take upon the responsability of keeping the clue safe.
