In 1582, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] traveled to the port and met with [[Konishi Yukinaga]], who recalled the smell of the incense at the rengakai too. Yukinaga explained the incense is identical to those of his business partners from {{Wiki|Bizen Province|Bizen}}, who had been helping him and [[Ukita Naoie]] restore holy sites. Naoe and Yasuke offered to go in his stead and then met with a group of armed [[merchant]]s. After a brief discussion, the merchants assumed that they were with [[Kuroda Yoshitaka|Kuroda Kanbei]] and attacked them but were killed by the pair. Afterwards, they recovered an inventory order at [[Aga Hontokuji Temple]] and went there to investigate.<ref name="The Scent of War">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[The Scent of War]]</ref>

Together, Naoe and Yasuke uncovered that weapons were shipped to the temple, a map of [[Himeji Castle]] and a [[Junisho Shrine|shrine]], and approval from Yukinaga.
